consume_thumbAkua Konamah is a 21 year old singer songwriter from South West London.

Born to Ghanaian parents, Akua grew up speaking Twi and listening to music from Ghanaian High Life and Afro Pop artists such as Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi.

Akua’s sound is a sultry blend of acoustic, rnb, pop and soul. From a young age she had a passion for music and was influenced by UK and State-side artists such as Estelle, Sade, Ashanti and Alicia Keys.

It was during her school years that she began playing the piano, writing songs and creating backing tracks.

A week before she began her degree in Music Industry Management at Hertfordshire University, she bought an acoustic guitar and taught herself how to play. She then began to write songs based around the guitar and often performed her new material at local University events.

In 2013, she took part in the JUMP OFF singing battle, winning four weeks in a row by putting her own unique, acoustic twist on rap songs by Hip Hop heavyweights such as Drake, Meek Mill, Fabolous and Jay-Z.

Upon finishing her degree, the JUMP OFF Competition and Internships with the Royal Opera House and ILUVLIVE, Akua decided it was the right time to get back into the studio and focus on writing and recording under the watchful eye of Fidel Rosales aka Funkiipapa and Chris Patrick of Rockizm Music.

She has been captivating audiences with her sultry blend of acoustic music, mashing up current tracks such as; Meridian Dan’s monster hit ‘German Whip’ and Krept and Konan’s ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ which led to performances at ILUVLIVE, as well as rave reviews on BBC Radio 1Xtra and support from BBC Introducing’s Gary Crowley.

Akua is set to drop her debut EP entitled ‘Consume Me’ on the 9th June. The EP features two Acoustic tracks; Consume Me and her rendition of German Whip, along with three studio produced tracks which includes the leading track Only U (produced by Funkiipapa).
